December 2023 15th Annual “Holly Days” Arts and Crafts Show, Saturday, December 2, 2023 from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. in the historic SCHF Auditorium. Admission is $2. “Holly Days” will feature a room full of quality vendors showcasing their arts and crafts, plus local talent will entertain the attendees. This year, there will be a new addition to Holly Days for the guys- our North Pole Mancave! Come lounge with the guys, watch some football, and have some snacks, coffee, and cocktails. This event will precede Vicksburg Main Street’s Annual Christmas Parade of Lights at 5 p.m. The show has become a tradition in Vicksburg. River Kids Free After School Art
Program. Spring Semester Registration is open now for the free
after-school art program. Spring Semester begins January 25,
2024. Open to any child in 1st through 6th grade, the class
will meet on Thursdays from 3:45-5:00 p.m. for the
thirteen-week program. Space is limited and reservations are
required. November 2023 16th Annual Classics in the Courtyard. Local entertainers and local restaurants will provide the music and lunch on Fridays from noon-1 p.m. beginning October 20th and concluding November 10th, 2023. The musical entertainment is sponsored in part by a generous grant from Entergy Mississippi. The entertainment is provided for free and lunch can be purchased for $15 per person or $12 for SCHF Members. Nancy Mitchell says, “Come join me to paint a sailboat for Summer in the style of Claude Monet. Hope to see you there!” Classes suit both artists and beginners. Nancy Mitchell believes anyone can learn to draw and be creative. However, in today’s world not many people have time for weekly art classes. This class is based on a painting she designs to mimic the style of a renowned artist. The step-by-step process enables each student to recreate the painting, adding their personal style. Students also learn basics about composition and color mixing. In addition to artist facts and a touch of art history throughout the lesson, students receive a handout on the artist. February 2023 “Love Is in the Air” Valentine Fun with Lana at SCHC, Sunday, February 12th, 2023 from 2-5 p.m. St. George Antiochian Orthodox Christian Church presents the 62nd Annual Lebanese Dinner Monday, February 13, 2023, from 11 a.m. -2 p.m. and 4-6 p.m. The dinner will be drive-thru only. Tickets are $18 and the meal consists of cabbage rolls, baked kibbee, tabooli salad, green beans in tomato sauce, and pita bread. After completing his bachelor’s degree at the University of Mississippi, he completed culinary school at the French Culinary Institute in 2011. In celebration of the season of Mardi Gras, the Vicksburg Foundation for Historic Preservation (VFHP) presents the 11th annual Carnaval de Mardi Gras and Gumbo Cook-Off on Saturday, February 18th, 2023 from 5-7 p.m. at the Southern Cultural Heritage Center. The Foundation is accepting teams for the gumbo cook-off now. In addition to bragging rights and trophies, the first-place winner in both the seafood and non-seafood categories will be awarded a $300 cash price.
