Riverfront Mural Dedication And Reception
Saturday, January 17 The Sisters of Mercy’s Historic Service to Vicksburg will be commemorated in a Riverfront Mural. The mural dedication will be Saturday, January 17 at one o’clock in the afternoon. There will be a reception immediately following the ceremony in the SCHF Auditorium. The Southern Book Club meets on the third Wednesday of each month. There is no fee and it is open to the public. New members are welcome.

Mississippi Symphony The Southern Cultural Heritage Foundation in coordination with the Mississippi Symphony Orchestra as part of its community outreach presents the Mississippi Symphony Brass Quintet on Friday, January 23. The performance will be in the SCHF Auditorium (entrance on Crawford Street) and will begin at 7:00 p.m. A $5 donation is suggested to assist with future SCHF programming. River
Kids
We are still taking names for the spring semester of the River Kids After School Art and Music Program. Ninety students will explore Mississippi through local and state artists and musicians during the free after school program.
Reservations are required. The program is free and filled on a first come, first serve basis. Open to children beginning 3rd grade through 6th grade. Hurry! The program begins the last week in January. There are only a few spaces still available.

Anyone Can Draw with Nancy Mitchell, veteran artist and art educator - Adult Drawing Workshop. The three session class will be Thursdays: Jan. 29, Feb. 5, & Feb. 12 from 6 to 8 p.m. in the SCHF Academy Building (entrance on Adams Street). The class will teach beginners drawing basics through exercises in contour drawing, shading, and conclude with a still life drawing. Reservations are required. The $35 fee includes all materials. Space is limited, so call today!. |
Happy New Year! 2004 marks the 10th Anniversary for the Southern Cultural Heritage Foundation. We appreciate your support and are looking forward to making this Anniversary Year the best yet! Several generous members made our Christmas wish list a reality. Thank you so much! A special thank you to Ann Mahoney who without prompting cleans and presses our tablecloths after each event throughout the year. SCHF looked especially festive this Holiday Season thanks to Pam Melsheimer and Alice Portwood and their decorating committee. Thank you for all of your hard work. |
